Creation Pictures

Morning routine: Very rough this morning! That figures since we had a great day yesterday. It also could relate to the lovely evening yesterday that involved apple juice and Parmesan cheese and two toddlers!! I decided to run pick up milk this morning. I started and rotated the laundry. I started to bread and put it to rising. I didn't do the morning dishes, and the children were scampering around dressing at 9-with not a drop of music time. **morning routine on paper and me finished by 8:30 so I can do phonics with Lydia or read with her.

Learning time: I started at 9:20 again. Some of the children were still running around getting ready, but I wanted to start myself to get a little ahead.

Devotional: We were coloring creation pictures. We drew block numbers 1-6 and inside the number colored what was created that day. We read the creation from Moses 2 today...in pieces as we were ready to color them. I had read it myself this morning to have in mind where to stop and a few other ideas. Although the children did copy mine to some extent, some of them are better and more thorough colorers than I. Lydia did beautiful drawings, but not always related to what was created that day. Raymond wasn't interested at all, so he continued making origami rockets and planes. He did listen to reading. We ended up coloring for over 1 hour-with Kalani talking the longest and Lydia continuing to color on her own theme.**I want to read scriptures about Christ as the creator and choose one to memorize.

Science...as it related to the book so well we did a simple experiment with states of matter. We had hot water in a bottle with ice on the lid. A cloud formed and there was condensation. Raymond really enjoyed explaining and watching this...I knew he had read about he experiment before. It related wonderfully to the huge cavern in Journey to the center of the earth...which is were we were reading today. We talked about matter moving from one state to another.

Reading: We continued to read from Journey to the Center of the Earth. We read about 20 pages and read over an hour. We didn't discuss much today as it was very plot heavy. We are looking a few of the places referenced on the Internet. The children were glad to get the story moving somewhere. It was past 11:30 when we finally stopped.**finish looking on the Internet at the caverns referred to in the book.

frustrations: Will Ben EVER be potty trained? He had a big accident that was NOT at all fun and spent the rest of learning time in the bath cleaning up. The children were patient with the pause-as they had other things they were working on. The little girls wanted to draw on everyone else's papers, but at least the crayons and markers were all at the table (except for all of those that fell off!)
